Mid Winter Report

Hello, this (what seems like bi-annually) blog post is to provide an update on the happenings and shackings of my life for the last 6+ months. Sadly, I haven't had much time to provide updated to my blog on a regular basis. So I guess this long post will have to suffice.
Jobs, Work and the future
I have a new postition!
After six months of interviews and 3 months of consulting I have been offered a fulltime position at Isite Design (http://www.isitedesign.com) as a "Solutions Architect". You may remember I have been a partner and director for a small consulting company for the last 2 years, Swipht Technologies. During that time I worked on a lot of projects (see the whole list here) and some were small, others HUGE! But through it all I had 100% of the responsibility to manage the client relationship, direct and guide the contractors, and is some cases develop every deliverable.
To Drupal and Beyond!
For the last 5 years I have been doing a lot of Drupal work (most of my work) and I do see that the platform has legs for another 3-5 years. But I haven't been complacent and I do recognize the need to look "back" and "forward". So as part of my new role at Isite Design I am resuming consulting and programming on the .NET platform. I look foward to taking advantage of .NET 4, C#, and trying out the MVC framework!
For the future I have been learning about Microformats, Ajax-based APIs, Geocoding and Google Maps integration, and a little syncronous/asyncronous client-server architectures using node.js. I plan to extend my libriaries of features for Drupal and create several distributions both in Drupal 7 and Pressflow 7. I also plan to gain more knowledge about optimization strategies (not that I don't already know alot about the subject) and further expand my experience using Varnish and Memcache. This would be coupled with my expanding knowledge about n-tier server architectures and leveraging n-tier and ondemand VM (virtual machine) architectures in the cloud.
Nevermind that my current employer has no shortage of work head of me. I'm generally excited about the 45+ hours a week of work I have and the size and complexity of the projects I'm not. I feel challenged with what is put before me, yet not afraid of that I can accomplish anything.
The future is looking so bright, I've got a wear shades!
